2013 Polished Apple Award
Award winners for the 2013 Polished Apple Award program were chosen from submittals to the Design Exhibit and announced at the 2013 WA/MT Chapter Conference in Spokane, WA. The Polished Apple Winner and Merit Award Winners were selected by an independent jury, consisting of an educator recognized as an innovative leader (Dr. Brian Benzel, Whitworth University), an educational facilities planner with substantial experience as the primary Owner representative on major education facilities projects (Greg Brown, AIA, Spokane School District); and an architect who has completed significant works of civic design (Jim Cortner, AIA, Cortner Architectural Company).

There is only one Polished Apple Winner each year, given to the Owner/Design Team with the constructed Washington State project that best represents exemplary practice in the following areas of educational facility planning and design:

Awards of Merit are given for superior quality projects within the same criteria as the Polished Apple Winner. Citations call attention to outstanding features of individual projects. The number of Merit Awards given will be at the sole discretion of the jury, based on the number of projects it deems to represent exemplary practice.
