2026 Scholarship – LearningSCAPES Conference

This scholarship provides financial assistance for one or more individuals residing in the Southern Region states to attend the Association Annual Conference, LearningSCAPES, November 3-7, 2026 in Seattle, WA. This important event brings together school planners, educators, and design and construction professionals from around the world to collaborate on ideas and issues relating to the planning and design of contemporary schools.

Preference will be given to those who have not received a scholarship to the Annual Conference in the past 3 years. The maximum amount of this scholarship is $1,200 and may be applied to registration, travel and/or hotel costs as needed. Incidental expenses such as meals not covered by the conference fee and ground transportation are not included in this scholarship. The scholarship award will be reimbursed after expense receipts are provided. Reimbursements will only be made up the remaining amount awarded.

We believe that maintaining clear guidelines regarding the use of these funds is essential to fostering trust and integrity in our scholarship program. The scholarship award will be reimbursed after expense receipts are provided. Reimbursements will only be made up the remaining amount awarded.


2026 Otto D. Grove Scholarship – Student Scholarship

The Southern Region offers a competitive merit-based scholarship designed for students who desire financial support for their pursuit of undergraduate and post-graduate educational opportunities. The Southern Region supports membership growth in the Southern Region by providing chapter support and scholarship opportunities to support the organization’s mission.

Scholarship Award:
Each academic year, based on available funding, up to five (5) student(s) will be selected as the recipients of a $3,000 Southern Region Scholarship Award. Students will be selected from within the Southern Region (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas). The scholarship will be forwarded directly to the higher learning institution the applicant is attending. No checks or funds will be mailed directly to students.

Eligibility Requirements:
The Southern Region Foundation Advisory Board seeks students for nomination who meet the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Nominee must complete and submit all application, achievement and essay forms and character recommendation letters required by the A4LE Southern Region Foundation. Character letters should be from professors or teachers and/or representatives from organizations or part time jobs.
  2. Candidate must be currently enrolled in a bachelors or post-graduate degree program at an accredited post-secondary institution within the Southern Region states.
  3. Nominee must submit evidence of enrollment at a college or accredited postsecondary institution or show evidence of a college or post-secondary institution acceptance letter.
  4. Candidates must show evidence that their major is architecture, engineering related to the building environment, construction management, education or another field related to educational facility planning and contributing to the mission of A4LE.

Submission Requirements:
The entire scholarship submission requirements will be accepted by submitting an application and supporting documents by 5:00 PM CST on June 26, 2026.

Scholarship winner(s) will be notified on or before July 10.

2026 Scholarship – Southern Region Annual Conference

The Southern Region fosters research and scholarly study regarding the impact of school facilities on student achievement. The region acts as a proactive catalyst for promoting the development of quality learning environments in the Southern Region by funding scholarships and grants.

This scholarship provides financial assistance for up to $1200 each for (3) three individuals residing in the Southern Region states to attend the Southern Region Annual Conference April 20-23, 2026 in Austin, TX. This important event brings together school planners, educators, and design and construction professionals from around the region to collaborate on ideas and issues relating to the planning and design of educationally responsive schools.

The A4LE Southern Region scholarship candidate can be selected more than once, but a minimum period of three (3) years must have passed prior to a candidate being selected a subsequent time. The maximum amount of this scholarship is $1,200 and the amount of each award is to be determined on a case-by-case basis and will primarily be established based on financial need. Expenses that are eligible for consideration include registration for the conference, travel to and from event, and hotel   accommodations at the host hotel during the event. The scholarship award will be reimbursed after expense receipts are provided. Reimbursements will only be made up the amount awarded.

Award recipient will be notified on or about March 10.

2025 Otto D. Grove Scholarship – A4LE Academy Certificate Program

This scholarship will not be available for 2026

The Southern Region Foundation is a non-profit organization established to support membership growth in the Southern Region by providing chapter support and scholarship opportunities to support the organization’s mission. The Foundation acts as a proactive catalyst for promoting the development of quality learning environments in the Southern Region by funding scholarships and grants through the Otto D. Grove Fund.

The Southern Region Foundation is offering a competitive merit-based scholarship for the A4LE Academy Certificate Program. This intense, high quality program consists of six, 6-week online courses created by industry experts. The comprehensive program of study is grounded in the key knowledge and skills central to the sound planning, building and maintaining of learner-centered school facilities based on the A4LE ALEP Core Competencies. Each course addresses one phase of the capital project, while the complete program emphasizes a collaborative process that engages all stakeholders and how to address all areas of the core competency in the process. The primary text is supplemented with relevant materials collected and developed by the expert instructors.

One (1) scholarship candidate will be selected as the recipient of a $6,000 Scholarship for the A4LE Academy. Recipient will be selected from within the Southern Region (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas).

Scholarship recipient will be notified on or about May 20.
