Call for Speakers is closed

The North Carolina Chapter / Southeast Region are co-hosting a conference in in April focused on great school planning, design, and construction. The conference will be open to professionals from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky whose collective mission is to improve the environments in which children learn. Superintendents of school districts, directors of instruction, facilities and operations managers, school planners, architects, engineers, and builders will gather in Asheville, NC to share knowledge, learn from one another, and advance the cause. If you, your company, or someone you know has something of interest to share with this group we encourage and invite you to submit a proposal to present.

Conference attendees will self-select into concurrent sessions. Presenters will have 60 minutes to interact with attendees and present information on a wide range of topics including, but not limited to:

  • the relationship between facilities and learning,
  • facility planning and consensus building,
  • new building technologies and sustainable matters, and
  • trends in education, planning, design, and/or construction.

Though not mandatory, presenters are encouraged to collaborate with peers in other fields in order to bring a broad perspective to the subject. Joint presentations that include both school representatives and design/construction professionals are the best! Presenters are further encouraged to present in an interactive manner in a way that engages the audience, provokes thought, and inspires action. Presenters who lend a unique perspective are strongly encouraged. Presentations should not have a commercial or sales-oriented focus.

The deadline for submitting proposals is Friday, February 13th. Proposals will be reviewed by the conference's program committee and 16 presentations will be chosen from among the applicants. Consideration will be given to relevance of subject matter, appropriateness of learning objectives, qualifications or the speaker(s), the degree to which the presentation will be interactive and engaging, and regional diversity.

We hope that you will consider taking an active role in this unique and exciting conference. Inspire us and be inspired!
