New Fairfield HS

This tour will focus on the design of a next generation high school for the Town of New Fairfield that supports an adaptable and collaborative academic, career technical focused and community-based environment. The school facility puts learning on display, creates a central hub of student and community activity, puts learning on display and creates a culture of responsibility for students. Furnishings has played a crucial role in supporting these guiding principles and as the school completes its first year of operation, the administrative and design team look to share impressions and lessons learned, including early thoughts around a formal exploratory survey that will track specific success metrics.

Learning Objectives:
  • Discuss how design addresses the school’s educational program and supports objectives for teaching and learning.
  • Describe project process and design strategies that helped to create a dynamic environment that supports school culture and academic achievement.
  • Define what has been learned by the design and administrative team since the school opened.
  • Exchange views how lessons learned can be applied to other projects.
