Session A: A Concrete Solution on the Rise
Through the Integrated Project Delivery method, the design team, contractor, and school district were able to objectively evaluate the cost and schedule implications of various construction methods, and determined together that the benefits of tilt-up concrete construction for this project made it a viable alternative. The tilt-up solution achieved the conceptual design of the building, and met the District requirements for durability, low maintenance, and energy efficiency. The speed of construction was instrumental in meeting the project schedule. The tilt-up contractor will present additional case studies of educational projects utilizing tilt-up construction in the Carolinas.
