Individual Awards

The following Awards and Recognitions are given at the Southern Region Conference, nominations for these awards are to be sent by Chapter and Region Boards to the Committee so that the recipients can be recognized for their hard work and commitment to the region and the Association.

The Awards Committee Chair is the Regional Past President and the committee consist of immediate Past Presidents of each chapter in the Region.

Service Citation Award

Awarded 1 per chapter

Chapter Nominated
  • Up to 2 nominations per chapter for members who have shown elevated service to the Chapter / Region board or a committee.
  • Nominations to be provided by the Chapter President to the Awards Committee.
  • If a Chapter does not exist for a State member of the Southern Region, the State Governor may nominate recipients.
  • Awards to be announced and distributed at the Regional Conference.

Conference Committee Members
  • Awards for individuals serving on the Conference Planning Committee who have exhibited exceptional service to the Committee.
  • Selected by the Regional Vice-President/Conference Chair to the Awards Committee.
  • Awards to be announced and distributed at the Regional Conference.

Distinguished Service Award

Awarded 1 per chapter

Chapter Nominated

  • Up to 2 nominations per chapter for individuals who have exhibited exceptional service to the Chapter throughout the year.
  • Nominations to be provided by the Chapter President to the Awards Committee.
  • If a Chapter does not exist for a State member of the Southern Region, the State Governor may nominate recipients.
  • Awards to be announced and distributed at the Regional Conference or at a Chapter Event.

Cornerstone Award

Awarded 3 per region

Chapter Nominated
  • An award given to a Region Member who has shown dedication and commitment to the growth and overall success of their Chapter or the Region. A recipient shall only receive this award once in their lifetime.
  • Nominations to be provided by the Chapter President to the Awards Committee. If a Chapter does not exist for a State member of the Southern Region, the State Governor may nominate recipients.
  • Awards to be announced and distributed at the Regional Conference.

Planner of the Year (Lifetime Achievement)

Awarded 1 per year

  • An award given to a Region Member who has shown dedication and commitment to the growth and overall success of the Region, industry and association.
  • A recipient shall only receive this award once in their lifetime.
  • Nominations to be provided by a current member through his/her Chapter President to the Awards Committee.
  • Awards to be announced and distributed at the Regional Conference POY Reception.
  • The Southern Region Award committee will recommend to the board of directors a Lifetime Achievement candidate for the international award from all current Southern Region Planner of the Year winners

Submittal Requirements for Southern Region Planner of the Year

  • The nominee's current resume or vita outlining their educational background and professional experience.
  • An Executive Summary outlining the candidate's professional career.
  • A statement on how the candidate's body of work has advanced the development of effective learning environments.
  • A detailed description of the candidate's most singular outstanding contribution to the region.
  • Materials must be submitted electronically and are limited to 10 pages or less of material. The length of each section of the submittal package is up to the discretion of the candidate.

International Lifetime Achievement

Submittal Materials

  • The nominee's current resume or vita outlining their educational background and professional experience.
  • An Executive Summary outlining the candidate's professional career.
  • A detailed statement on how the candidate's body of work has advanced the development of effective learning environments.
  • A detailed description of the candidate's most singular outstanding lifetime contribution to the industry.
  • Letters of reference from supervisors or clients, attesting to the candidate's professional experience (minimum of five).
  • Appendixes including documents pertinent to the nomination that further explain the candidate's contributions.
  • Materials must be submitted electronically and are limited to 50 pages of material. The length of each section of the submittal package is up to the discretion of the candidate.
