2018 Mid-Year Conference Highlights

Re-Imagining Learning Spaces Without Busting the Budget!

October 24, 2018 | Albemarle County Public Schools

2018 Mid-Year The 2018 Mid-Year Conference, Re-Imagining Learning Spaces without Busting the Budget!, was held on Wednesday, October 24th 2018 at various locations throughout Albemarle County Public Schools.

We welcomed over 120 attendees this year, and we were extremely pleased to see that over half of our attendees were either educators or school administrators, a significant first step in achieving this year’s goal of expanding our message and purpose to those who are leading the charge in providing innovative learning opportunities in the classroom.

The opening session was conducted at Monticello High School and featured opening remarks by Dr. James F. Lane, Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction, and a keynote address entitled “Timeless Learning” by Dr. Pam Moran, former Superintendent of Albemarle County Public Schools and current Executive Director of the Virginia School Consortium for Learning.

Attendees then each visited one for four Albemarle County Schools to observe cost-effective re-imagined learning environments first-hand.

We reconvened our conference over lunch at the ACPS Center for Creativity and Invention, and then broke-out into three 40-minute round-robin workshops where planners and designers teamed with educators to facilitate re-imagining space, furnishings and tools to support active student-centered project-based learning.
