Cunningham Elementary School Teaching Kitchen
How the Teaching Kitchen at Cunningham Elementary School supports their culinary arts program
Come join us virtually for lunch for our regular monthly meeting.
The new Teaching Kitchen at Cunningham Elementary School has allowed the expansion of the PEAS program at their campus to include the goals of the Emeril Lagasse Foundation. The program pillars include (1) appreciation of the source of food, (2) development of life skills through food, (3) nutrition and healthy eating and (4) development of culinary skills.
We will discuss the design development process including building placement, orientation and use with the existing PEAS culinary garden.
The new teaching kitchen was designed and constructed utilizing a premanufactured building. The presentation will share critical elements when designing and constructing this building type.

Southern Region Planner of the Year 2021
Chief Facilities Officer
Congratulations to Jimmy Disler, Chief Facilities Officer, Leander ISD, on being awarded the Southern Region Planner of the Year Award for 2021!
Jimmy has spent the last 23 years of his 35 plus year career with Leander ISD improving the learning environment for all students and has managed $1.74 Billion in bond funding during that time. He has also witnessed the growth of the A4LE CTX Chapter from a fledging organization in the late ‘90s to the current robust membership that continues to grow with the dynamic growth of our region. His various roles within A4LE have been CTX Chapter President, Southern Region President and Southern Region Representative to the International Board.
In Jimmy’s own words “Thank you for this award, it is truly an honor. I have been so blessed to work with great people, many from our chapter, and everyone has made me look good. The Central Texas chapter played a huge role in this.. When I took over construction for LISD, I leaned on a lot of people from this chapter, from architects, engineers, and contractors, to help me gain so much knowledge. I encourage those that are new to this profession, lean on other members of this chapter/organization. We are all here for the same reason and want to help. When we do this, it makes us all look good. So Thank You for all of your support over the years.”
