Big Plans – Small Buildings
The Greenbrier

To West Virginia K-12 School Leaders:

If you have never heard of the Association for Learning Environments, we are an organization whose sole mission is improving the places where children learn. The Association represents a unique organization enabling dialogue between school leaders, educational facility planners, architects, engineers, construction/program managers, and general contractors regarding the efficacy of school design and its impact on student achievement.

The Association believes that:

  • Facilities impact the learning, development and behavior of the facility user;
  • The planning process is essential for quality facilities;
  • Sharing and networking improves the planning process; and
  • There is a standard by which to measure

School Building Authority of WV The Southeast Region has determined that we desire to assist our West Virginia Chapter in raising awareness of the organization and generating interest in the Association for all parties involved in construction of K-12 educational facilities in the State of West Virginia. We are very pleased that the School Building Authority of WV is joining us in this effort. The focus of our efforts in West Virginia is a joint A4LE/SBA-WV conference to be held at The Greenbrier on April 14-17, 2013 with a number of speakers and sessions addressing how the educational program of a facility should drive the architectural design.

To encourage participation from West Virginia K-12 school districts, the Association and SBA-WV will be offering complete conference scholarships specifically to West Virginia public school district employees (conference registration and lodging cost valued at $1,000). Thirty scholarships will be provided on a first-come first-served basis, limited to one scholarship applicant from a West Virginia School District.

You can hear Dr. Machine extend an invitation to participate at the 2013 conference site under the Welcome section. Come and learn about the Association and help us create an exciting conference at The Greenbrier in April 2013.
