12:45 PM – 4:00 PM UWT & Prairie Line Trail Walking Tour
Join us for a guided tour of the historic Prairie Line Trail and University of Washington Tacoma (UWT) campus. In 1873, the Northern Pacific Railroad designated the half-mile, two-acre corridor as the western terminus for its transcontinental railroad, beating out competitors Seattle, Olympia, and Bellingham. Modern city-building followed the railroad and built Tacoma’s downtown. UWT has adaptively reused these century-old, brick buildings to build their campus, including development of the portion of the Prairie Line Trail which bisects the campus.
