Dr. Wesley Imms is an Associate Professor in the Melbourne Graduate School of Education, its Head of Visual Art and Design Education, and a Director of the cross-faculty (Education and Architecture) Learning Environments Applied Research Network (LEaRN). He holds education degrees granted in Australia and Canada, including a research MA and a PhD in Curriculum Studies from the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Imms is lead Chief Investigator on the current Australian Research Council Linkage Projects, the 2016-2020
Innovative Learning Environments and Teacher Change project and the recently completed 2013-2017
Evaluating 21st Century Learning Environments Australian Research Council Linkage projects. He also leads the recently launched Plans to Pedagogy project, being conducted in Australia and New Zealand. He has secured over AUS$13M in external research funding since 2000 and run multiple workshops in schools, working with teachers to help transfer this learning into professional settings. He worked with the LEaRN team supporting Hayball Architects on The Learning Project, which resulted in the MacConnell Award winning,
Caulfield Grammar School.
Current teaching activities include the supervision of more than 15 current PhD theses on learning environments, and coordinating seven subjects spanning curriculum and studio practice, innovative learning spaces, and Masters-level learning spaces capstone and teacher/practitioner subjects.
