Saturday Morning Workshop
Working Education – From the School through the City
Ron Lamarre, AIA, ALEP, ALA, LEED AP BD+C, Design Principal | Educational Facility Planner, Lavallee Brensinger Architects
Jason G. Boone, ALEP, Assoc. AIA, MCPPO, Dore & Whittier Architects
Imagine an educational environment envisioned, planned, and designed to support high school Career & Technical Education, as well as Community College degree programs, and adult education and training offered by industry partners. Now imagine its all in one building, where these three entities share the same learning spaces and places.
How could this possibly work? With safety, security, and ownership concerns, how could such an environment be planned?
Join us to explore how learning environment planners with different backgrounds, an educator, an architect, and a school administrator would approach such an effort.
The focus of the workshop will touch on three aspects; the ownership, the educational connections, and the organization of places and spaces to achieve the vision of teaching to learn with outcomes of either high diplomas, certifications, licenses, college degrees, or all of the above.
Learning Objectives:
- Integrating multi-age and multi- use educational environments.
- Cooperation between secondary, post secondary, and business partners to forge a pathway to success.
- The different mind sets collaborating to achieve a common goal.
