Day 1 | Wednesday, April 25
IDS Center, the tallest building in Minneapolis designed by architect Philip Johnson.
Objective: Participants will develop a new set of tools to enable them to successfully engage one another in design thinking and collaboration.
Noon Lunch at Windows on MN at the top of the IDS Building, Minneapolis' tallest building by famed architect Phillip Johnson
1:30PM Keynote: Curtis W. Johnson from "education|evolving" and co-author of acclaimed book Disrupting Class; then
2:45PM Bernard Canniffe, Professor and Design Chair @ the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Bernard leads the group through creative experiences to ready the group for collaboration and co-creation i.e. (4) thirty minute experiences
5:00PM Reception at hotel: Reflection from the day's activities & Speed Sharing with Industry Partners
7:00PM Dinner by famed Chef Paul Lynch at hotel
Day 2 | Thursday, April 26
Guthrie Theater designed by Jean Nouvel.
6:00AM Walk/Run along the Mississippi
7:00AM Breakfast on your own
8:30AM Keynote: Emily Pilloton, Design iconoclast, builder, social activist, and champion of industrial design as a tool to change the world works at the intersection of design and public education believing that creative problem solving and hands-on building are an untapped opportunity within education and communities.
9:45AM Ted-style presentations/videos of regional success stories
10:00AM Emily to sit down with Kerri Miller on MPR
11:00AM Mash-Up. Barry Kudrowitz, Asst. Professor @ the Dept. of Design, Housing, and Apparel with his unique ability to inspire creativity and idea, together with Emily Pilloton will kick-off the "mash-up" to bring lay people into the realm of design thinking and issue the design challenge (s) for transforming education
Noon Lunch

11:00 Idea generation/Brainstorming
1:00 Design problem selection
1:30 Prototyping and presentation preparation
3:00 Filming of presentations (limited to two minutes in duration)
Deliverable: a prototype design to transform education and that represents the desired experience
