Troy Glover, jury chair, noted, "The Association for Learning Environments is proud of the partnerships with industry leaders who are focused on the development of products and services geared towards redefining and improving the learning environment for both internal and external educational stakeholders. We are ecstatic to acknowledge the great work that our partners are doing to create the next generation of learning environments. We applaud the efforts of all our partners and congratulate FrontRow for Juno Connect as this year's award recipient."
Congratulations to FrontRow and Juno Connect – their award-winning acoustic device to improve learning! Students are more engaged and learn better when they hear better. A study conducted by the Wabash and Ohio Valley Special Education District titled "Mainstream Amplification Resource Room Study," (MARRS study, 1977-1980) includes significant scientific data on the effects of acoustics and learning. Juno also facilitates learning at home, through its accompanying support software. The Lesson Capture software records both, voice and video, lesson aspects that teachers deem critical for understanding a concept, or entire lessons altogether. It processes the files autonomously and posts them on the teacher's website or the school district repository for learning resources. Students and parents are thus empowered for a deeper and greater learning experience.
A plug-and-play device, Juno requires no installation and has been designed to work as a stand-alone or a networked device. When connected to the schools network, Juno serves as a full Distributive Communication System, delivering public announcements, intercom and mass emergency notifications.
The runner up for this year's Solution Provider Award is Steelcase. Observing that Mobile technology is now everywhere, profoundly impacting the places where learning happens. A recent survey reported that 73% of students claim that they cannot study without the help of technology. Students need technology, technology needs power and students find themselves running from outlet to outlet in search of power.
Introducing Thread™, an ultra-thin power distribution system designed to provide power — wherever and whenever. Power is a common thread that connects people, place and technology together. Thread empowers those connections by transforming any carpeted floor into a power source. With power always within reach, students can create, problem solve, focus and learn...anywhere. Thread simplifies
power distribution, providing power to the devices we use and the places we learn. 88.38% recyclable, Thread has been submitted for Cradle to Cradle® Bronze certification and is currently under review.
