Dan Mader Honored as Association for Learning Environments' Lifetime Achievement Award Winner

Dan Mader WASHINGTON, DC – Daniel R. Mader, AIA, ALEP, LEED AP is the recipient of the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award, presented at the recent Association for Learning Environments LearningSCAPES conference in Atlanta, Ga. This award, the highest and most prestigious honor conferred by the Association to an individual, is designed to honor a member who has distinguished themselves by making significant lasting contributions to the educational facility planning industry throughout their illustrious career.

Ron Fanning, 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner and former Association president remarked, "Dan's career truly embodies the Association's mission to improve the places where children learn – internationally, nationally, statewide and in his hometown. He continues to promote the advancement and betterment of the Association in all its endeavors, and has been the heart and soul of what an Association for Learning Environments member should be."

An exceptionally committed member of the Association, Dan Mader, chairman of the board of the architecture and engineering firm Fanning Howey, is recognized for his local, national and global leadership in advancing the potential of quality learning environments. In his previous role as chief executive officer of Fanning Howey, Dan oversaw the planning and design of more than $1 billion in K-12 school construction, including four Crow Island citation award winners. Globally, he has provided exceptional leadership to the organization, including serving as chairman, where he successfully guided our rebranding efforts, leading the association into the future.

Dan's advocacy for effective educational facilities has led him from the halls of Parliament to the hillsides of Honduras. A member of the board of directors of Schools for Children of the World, he is committed to making a difference in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. In his home state, Dan is a passionate advocate for education as chairman of the Legislative Committee for AIA Indiana. His life's work exhibits a total commitment to quality learning environments for students everywhere.
