David Schrader Named Chair of Association for Learning Environments

David Schrader WASHINGTON, DC – The Association for Learning Environments has named David L. Schrader, AIA, LEED AP, Chair of its Board of Directors. David Schrader, Managing Partner of SCHRADERGROUP architecture, assumed the role at the recent LearningSCAPES Conference held in Philadelphia, PA. Assuming new positions on the Executive Committee of the organization are William A. Stice, ALEP, as vice chair and Philip Idle, chair-elect.

As managing partner of SCHRADERGROUP architecture in Philadelphia, David Schrader is responsible for the firm's leadership, including design, management and business development. For over two decades his professional experience has been focused on the design of facilities of public interest. His ability to create a vision with his clients specifically for children has fostered significant success for all involved including the client, the design team, the student and the public-at-large. David believes that partnership in design is a key element of creating a better designed environment for each client.

An active member of the Association since 2002, David Schrader has served as Northeast Region president and has chaired several regional and international committees, contributing to many new association programs. Actively involved with the development and growth of the SchoolsNEXT global competition since 2007, Schrader is committed to inspiring the next generation to build a solid foundation for a better future.

David Schrader has served on the International Board of Directors since 2012. In his new role as chair, he plans to elevate the status of the emerging professional within the Association and plans to work with the Organization to improve the technical platforms upon which all members communicate.

With over 23 years of construction management experience and coordination and supervision of all phases of building programs, William A. Stice, vice chair, honed his skills in the third largest school district in Texas. Most importantly, Bill Stice has proven his ability to develop the team work needed to enable successful completion of any project. An active member of the Association for Learning Environments since 1990, he has held several leadership roles including Southern Region president and director of the Gulf Coast chapter.

Chair-elect Philip Idle recently served as Australasian director on the international board and currently chairs the Global Organization Task Force, Philip is leading the organization's efforts to develop a global mindset, enhancing and furthering the Association's influence locally as well as in other global locations. Philip has encouraged the leadership to develop a more comprehensive way of viewing cultural and geographic differences as potential opportunities.

Welcome to new Southeast Region director, William S. Bradley and Australasian director, Andrew Pender. Bill Bradley is the director of research and development for Grimm+Parker Architects. Twice recognized as the Virginia Chapter and Southeast Region Planner of the Year, Bill led both the chapter and region as president. Over his nearly 25-year career Dr. Bradley has served on faculty at the Curry School of Education and as a managing principal providing educational planning and design services to a broad range of clients across the southern United States.

A founding director of PMDL Architecture, Andrew Pender served as chair of the New South Wales chapter and chair of Association for Learning Environments Australasia. Andrew Pender's work in K-12 educational projects ranges from master planning and developing new greenfield facilities to the re-use and restoration of heritage facilities.
