Understanding the importance of applied academics as well as rigor and relevance for all students, "Makerspaces, an active learning conference" is our focus this year for the Association for Learning Environments Southwest Regional annual conference. As president of our region I invite you to join us April 19-22, 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona for what will be sure a conference to remember. The Graduate Hotel in Tempe will be our home base as we explore examples of makerspaces throughout the Phoenix area.
