Under limited direction, plans and implements all District support services. Plans, directs and oversees facilities and other land or property resources, transportation, safety, maintenance, warehousing, and contracted custodial and food services operations. Assists the
Superintendent in the implementation of District-wide operational objectives. Reports to the Superintendent.
Directs, plans, coordinates, and implements a comprehensive support services program in alignment with District strategic goals and operational/educational needs.
Supervises duties of assigned professional, supervisory and support staff; supervisory duties include instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; selecting new employees; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; allocating personnel; acting on employee problems; recommending and approving employee discipline and recommending discharge as appropriate. Review the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; evaluates and makes recommendations as appropriate; offers training, advice and assistance as needed.
Provides leadership for the Operations Department to ensure an effective and cohesive team.
Provides assistance to the superintendent as needed to assess, formulate and implement plans, policies and procedures for the District.
Oversees the management of facilities, plant operations, maintenance, energy resources, utilities, grounds maintenance, custodial services, school safety, transportation and food service.
Participates in the development of requirements for new facilities in support of enrollment growth and the replacement of facilities as needed and oversees the development of needs assessments for existing facilities.
Supervises building construction and renovation; coordinates all construction contracts with outside contractors; directs all renovations, modifications, etc. as performed by District operational staff.
Ensures that sufficient classrooms are made available by the acquisition, renovation, and relocation of portable classrooms.
Provides general supervision and efficient direction for the operation of the District’s transportation program. Effectively administers policies and regulations governing the transportation program to include State Department of Education and Department of Transportation compliance. Establishes and coordinates procedures to assure that all schoolowned vehicles are regularly inspected, maintained in safe operating condition, and are available for any appropriate District use.
Provides general supervision and efficient direction for the District’s safety services programs. Assumes responsibility for the development, coordination and implementation of emergency operation plans in support of county and state preparedness plans.
Develops local plans for the opening of an operation center when schools are closed because of weather conditions. Monitors road conditions during inclement weather and coordinates school closures with the Superintendent.
Coordinates District contracted services to include acquired custodial and food service operations.
Oversees warehouse operations to provide equipment and supplies for district personnel and facilities.
Supervises and monitors all budgets within the scope of support services. Implements cost control measures and manages the expenditures of funds in support of District objectives.
Handles the disposal of unserviceable and excess property, i.e. organizing auction sales.
Maintains records and provides payment for energy utilities and communications for all facilities in the school district.
Administers an asbestos program through the Supervisor of Maintenance and Energy Resources.
Ensures quarterly and yearly demographic reports are conducted and resource allocation recommendations are made to the superintendent.
Ensures enrollment and staffing projections (both short and long-range) are completed and resource allocation recommendations are made to Human Resources.
Remains abreast of developments in the school district’s attendance area through a relationship with Richland County Administration.
Remains abreast of pertinent legal, regulatory and administrative developments that impact the school district.
Serves in an advisory capacity as a member of the district’s Senior Leadership Team, Executive Staff and Superintendent’s Cabinet. Assists other District administrators as needed to respond to related problems, needs, requests, issues, etc.
Works collaboratively and cohesively with other members of executive leadership.
Receives and reviews various records and documents such as budget information, letters of correspondence, work orders, construction specifications, insurance claims, worksheets, etc.
Operates general office equipment such as computers, copiers, printers, calculators, facsimile machines, etc.
Willingly performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Master's degree in Business Management or Engineering or a related discipline with five to seven years of experience in logistical management and supervisory management or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess designated certifications and a valid South Carolina driver's license.

The Director of Business Development for Education will be primarily focused on growing the education business within the Northeast Division in targeted and strategic accounts and a group of select education focused account managers. This position will be responsible for finding and generating new business and must have a passion for results. The applicant must be self-motivated and have the ability to work at a fast pace. This position must also have the ability to work independently and on a team. The Director of Business Development for Education will ultimately be responsible for finding new business and driving strategic solutions to ensure customer satisfaction and build annuity business for the division.
Position Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing and executing a strategic and accountable plan to prospect, manage and grow education business with selected accounts.
Communicate and coordinate all activities related to the strategy in the education segment. This communication includes the commercial the DVP, RVPs, salespeople, and marketing teams across all commercial brands.
Develop lateral influence within Shaw Industries to implement strategic account plans.
Establish relationships, communication, and engagement with sales leadership and salespeople across all brands.

Work with the DVP, RVPs, and marketing to help educate and train select account managers on end use account development in the education segment.

Expand sales with select existing end use accounts in the education segment.
Participate in RFPs, contracts and agreements that involve targeted accounts.
Help track and communicate sales activity with existing and targeted strategic accounts and identified salespeople.
